Originating from China, Cinnamon is a widely used spice, not only well known for its flavour in both sweet and savoury food, but also for its aphrodisiac properties. It is obtained form the inner bark of the Cinnamon tree which is mainly grown in Sri Lanka, China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Caribbean.
Though mainly extracted via steam distillation, soxhlex extraction methods have proven to extract concentrated oil, which has been proven to be harmful to ones skin. As steam distillation provides high quality oil, other methods of extraction are not so common.
